Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper eyelid surgery ("blepharoplasty") is for patients with excess skin resting on the upper eyelids, in some cases impairing vision. Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin in this area, resulting in a more rejuvenated appearance. An incision is made in the natural upper eyelid crease, excess skin is removed, and the incision is closed with fine sutures.

Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower blepharoplasty is for patients noticing "bags" under the eyes, causing a "tired" appearance. In this procedure, Dr. Young removes excess fat, skin, and muscle through small incisions made along the natural lines of the eyelids. The incisions are closed with fine sutures. Some patients may be candidates for a lower eyelid blepharoplasty surgery in which the incision is made inside the lower lid. This surgery is ideal for male patients and young female patients with bulging lower eyelids and dark circles.

Blepharoplasty Recovery

Swelling and bruising are to be expected after this procedure, but you will be advised how to keep this to a minimum. Most patients can return to their normal routines within a few days and back to work about 7-10 days after undergoing eyelid surgery.
